ALMA

Three axes of motion, four channels of feel, and a chassis that configures from a spare room to a venue floor.

Configure your ALMA

What is the ImSim ALMA?

ALMA is ImSim’s motion simulator. The hardware and the software were designed in-house as one package, so the motion, the tactile system and the wheel all come from the same place and agree with each other.

The chassis moves on three axes — roll, pitch and yaw — and four transducers feed each corner of the car separately. Sound is built into the seat rather than around the room, and the computer is built into the machine, so a whole simulator runs off a single cable.

Everything a driver touches is specified with you, and the screen configuration is yours to choose: the same chassis takes a single 43-inch screen or a triple 65.

An open chassis, and what is bolted to it

The ALMA does not hide its engineering. The chassis is 197 cm long, 80 cm across and 150 cm tall, and everything that makes it work — the actuators, the transducers, the adjustment — is where you can see it and reach it.

Motion

Three axes, and a profile you can change

The chassis rolls, pitches and yaws. Those three axes carry grip limit, weight transfer, suspension travel, loss of traction, road surface, track inclination, braking and lateral load — the information a real driver reads through the seat.

  • 01

    Built by ImSim

The motion system, the tactile system and the software that drives them are all ours. Nothing is handed to somebody else’s black box.

  • 02

    Profiles from racing drivers

The factory profiles were developed with professional drivers, and use short, precise movements rather than large ones.

  • 03

    And profiles of your own

ImSim Motion lets a driver build their own profile and tune motion and transducer settings to taste. You are not stuck with the presets.

  • 04

    Nothing scheduled

No maintenance. Some units have run more than 25,000 experiences each — about 4,000 hours at full power over three years — without downtime.

Sensory feedback

Four corners, four channels

Motion tells the body where the car is going. The tactile system tells it what the tyres are doing. Four transducers sit in the chassis, one for each corner of the car, and each is driven on its own — so a wheel spinning at the rear arrives at the rear, and a front tyre locking arrives under the feet.

Driving position

Any driver, in seconds

The seat, the pedal plate and the wheel all move, and none of it needs a tool. The drawing sets the range at 1.00 m to 2.00 m tall and up to 120 kg, which is what makes an ALMA work for a family at home and for a queue at a venue.

  1. 01

    Seat and wheel

Both move, and neither needs a tool. The driver sets the reach from where they sit.

  2. 02

    Pedal position

The whole plate slides, so the reach changes without changing the angle your foot meets the brake at.

  3. 03

    Then drive

Under five seconds from sitting down to being in position. On a venue floor that is the whole business case.

Configurations

One chassis. The room decides the rest.

The same ALMA sits under every one of these. What changes is the screen and the stand — and with them the floor it needs, from a corner of a room to a stretch of a venue. The footprint below is for one simulator, with the viewing distance already counted in.

  • Chassis only

The ALMA on its own, screen and stand supplied by you.

  • Single 43″

    2.2 m² · 156 cm tall

The smallest complete setup, and the one that fits a spare room.

  • Single 49″

    2.5 m² · 149 cm tall

A wider single screen, and the configuration most homes choose.

  • Single 65″

    3.3 m² · 171 cm tall

One large screen, close enough to fill the view.

  • Triple 43″

    5.3 m² · 156 cm tall

Three screens, and the first configuration that shows you the apex.

  • Triple 65″

    7.6 m² · 172 cm tall

The full wall. What a venue floor and a serious practice rig use.

The finish

Made to sit in a room somebody lives in

The ALMA was drawn to interior design standards, not workshop ones. It is painted to a colour you choose — matched to a room, or matched to a car in your garage — and vinyl work goes on top of that.

01

Paint

Any colour you can give us a reference for. Send a code, a sample, or the car.

02

Vinyl

Graphics and liveries over the paint, and your own cars and liveries inside the simulator.

03

Cables out of sight

Cable management is built into the chassis, and the computer lives inside the machine. One cable leaves it.

Software

Sit down and drive

A driver sits down, picks a car and a track on the screen in front of them, and goes. No mouse, no keyboard, nobody standing behind them — under thirty seconds from sitting to driving. An ALMA ships with Assetto Corsa, DIRT RALLY 2 and EA SPORTS™ WRC, and the launcher that runs them.
