Compatibility
Is ImSim compatible with VR?
Yes. We build dedicated VR motion profiles, developed over years of events and customer feedback, that keep motion sickness to a minimum.
The seating position matches a real car and the motion response is near immediate, which is what makes VR work here. Drive on screens or in a headset.
I already have a screen. Can I use it?
Yes. Every configuration is specified for the room it goes into, so existing screens and peripherals can be built in.
Does the simulator work with consoles?
You can use a console if the peripherals you choose support it, but without motion. Motion needs the game to run on a PC.
What wheels and pedals is it compatible with?
ImSim ALMA is currently compatible with Fanatec, Logitech, Thrustmaster, SimuCube and Heusinkveld. More sets are compatible than are listed here — ask us about a specific one.
ImSim also makes its own pedals, the Talento SimPedals.
I already own a racing bucket seat. Will it fit?
Our Universal Seat Support takes bucket seats with fixing points between 400 and 470 mm apart, which covers most manufacturers. Height and angle adjust to the driver.
How many tracks and cars will I have access to?
Effectively any car and any circuit. Between the compatible titles you get road racing, ovals, rally, rallycross, drag and drift.
Several of those titles are moddable, so new tracks and vehicles can be commissioned.
Can I run online games?
Yes. Race friends on the other side of the world, join eSports competitions, or run online hotlap contests.

The machines
How many degrees of freedom does the motion system offer?
ImSim ALMA provides 3 degrees of freedom — roll, pitch and yaw.
ImSim TERRA takes an optional motion system of two or four actuators, from D-BOX or Qubic System, fitted at order or added later to the same chassis.
How much space does a simulator need?
ImSim ALMA has a footprint of roughly 0.8 × 2 m.
ImSim TERRA measures 1914 × 763 mm and stands 1314 mm high in the 49-inch single-screen configuration with four actuators. Other configurations differ, and the static machine is smaller.
For a venue, plan on about 5 m² per simulator once you allow for people standing around it.
How hard is it to drive?
As hard as you want it to be. Our team has built experiences at several difficulty levels, including physics for alternative vehicles that are much easier to drive.
Someone who has never raced can enjoy it in the first minute. A professional can use the same machine to prepare for a real race weekend.
Does it need specialised staff?
No. Our venue management software controls several simulators from one PC or tablet on the same network: starting and stopping races, editing player names, choosing car and track, and switching between single screen, triple screen and VR.
It is built to be operated by staff with no simulator training.
Are there age restrictions?
The limits come from the peripherals — pedals, VR headsets and so on — rather than from the simulator.
How reliable is it?
Built to take intensive commercial use. Some units have run over 25,000 racing experiences each — about 4,000 hours at full power over three years — without a fault or a day of downtime, and they are still running as they left the factory.
Buying and owning
What is the warranty?
Two years on ImSim motion simulators. Peripherals carry their manufacturers' own warranties.
How long does it take to build?
Usually six to eight weeks from order to shipping.
Do you ship internationally?
Worldwide.
Will it be ready to use out of the box?
If you order an ImSim FlightCase, the simulator arrives set up and ready.
How quickly can I move it and start it up?
Under a minute. A motion simulator normally takes up to three hours to install; ImSim ALMA was designed around a small footprint and a plug-and-play solution, so it connects to the mains and runs with no installation.
Do you provide installation and usage instructions?
Every simulator comes with a user manual. We also give customers tutorial videos covering the small problems that follow software updates or third-party hardware changes.
Where do I find maintenance documents?
ImSim supplies support documents with each machine, covering use and maintenance. The Downloads page has the current manuals and software.
What if something goes wrong?
Our team supports customers remotely and on site. ImSim technicians are trained to understand a problem quickly and solve it, by email, WhatsApp, phone or TeamViewer, within a strict timeframe from the moment you ask.
